Yin & Restorative Yoga, with Sofie Swindlehurst

Friday 12th April 2024, 6:45pm – 8:15pm

Cost: £12 / £9 concession

Yin is the calm, receptive opposite to dynamic yang.  Of course we need both but our swift-paced, uber fulfilled world tends to find life a little too heavy in yang!

Yin yoga focuses on the fascia (connective) tissues of the body using longer-held, more supported asana.  The fascia extends around our muscles, bones and organs as a web which translates movement and communication throughout the body.  Yin yoga opens up tight, dense areas of fascia that can build up over time.  Balancing strength and flexibility in our tissues it offers benefit to those of us with relatively static jobs and slow-creep postural habits, those of us with specific sport goals and those of us who simply want to take better care of our joint health.  Yin wouldn’t be yoga without breathwork!  Along with the slower pace it brings a raft of benefits, re-setting the nervous system.  We’ve blended this class with restorative yoga (restorative being where the poses are entirely supported, without any muscular effort) for optimum relaxation and renewal.  Come revel in spacious stillness.

Preparing for Summer Yin Yoga workshop

with Carolyn Harrison

Sunday 12th May 2024, 4 – 6pm

Cost: £20 per person

The summer is the most “yang” time of year. It’s a time when the natural world is abundant and we are surrounded with beauty! It’s also a time when you can experience burnt out. This yin yoga session for the summer emphasizes poses that will help you to slow down, feel calmer and to renew. A great way to welcome the forthcoming next season.

Yin is a more restorative, healing yoga that targets the connective tissues, such as the fascia, ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that are not normally exercised very much, which is even more important as our lives have become more sedentary.

Advanced bookings only please.
